Loewe Ines

Categories:Other Brands

loewe_ines-stone-yellowI usually wouldn’t look at your typical shoulder sling twice, especially since bags like that are pretty nondescript in the first place. Rectangular in shape and topped off with a sling, it’s as basic a shape as it gets, and something most ladies will use as a lightweight companion over the weekend.

That is, until I set eyes on the new Loewe Ines.

Measuring 24.5 cm by 14.8 cm, I guess why it won my heart so easily in this instance are the colour combinations it comes in. Take, for example, the one shown above in Stone/Yellow, the elegant, almost staid hue of Stone instantly brought to life with that trim of Yellow that’s just genius. The slings are also done in dual colours, which gives it that fun youthful vibe.

And to complete the look, there’s that ball-bearing like metal clasp in the middle of the bag which we first saw used over on Loewe’s Cartero. Other colour combos it will come in include Brown/Green and Purple/Pink, all boldly eye-catching and perfect for those who like pops of colour as far as their bags are concerned.

No word yet on the price or availability, so expect another update soon.

Loewe S/S16 Avenue

Categories:Other Brands

IMAGE: LOEWE

I’ve been blogging a lot about shoulder sling bags lately, and it seems like they are indeed THE bag style for Spring-Summer 2016. Just last week alone there were at least 3, from Coach’s Dinky to Gucci’s Sylvie to Mulberry’s Clifton. Yes, most everything has a little sling number for the season and Spanish luxury house Loewe is no different.

The easiest way to describe the Avenue? Remember the T Pouch, one of the first clutches that was launched by Loewe after J.W. Anderson took over? Well, it’s almost the same thing, except with the addition of a front flap and a long leather/metal sling. Yes, that’s right, you could almost consider the Avenue the girl’s version of theT Pouch.

Measuring 29 cm across by 16 cm, all the Avenue bags now come in embossed in the house monogram (Anagram is what they call it), and for this season it comes in at least 6 colours, from the ones in Stone and Electric Blue (shown above) to others inPrimary Red and Yellow, for example. Priced at SGD1550, the price is pretty decent for something that’s almost entirely made of calf leather, and one bag that will age well given how their leather is. Now available in Singapore, you can check them out at Loewe boutiques in Marina Bay Sands and Ngee Ann City and of course, their new flagship at Paragon.

Loewe Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – Paris Fashion Week

Categories:Fashion

On the fourth day of Paris Fashion Week spring 2015, the Spanish capital as well was represented on Parisian catwalk by the Madrid-based luxury fashion house Loewe, which is the most famous in the fashion world for its leather pieces. The Loewe spring/summer 2015 collection designed by JW Anderson, the creative director of the brand, turned out to be rather elegant and feminine. Given the fact that this was Anderson’s first collection for the Spanish brand, we can confidently claim that the debut was quite convincing. “The idea was to configure codes. I’ve only been here a year. I started off wanting to make it light. When I went to Spain I felt linen and cotton were fundamental”, said Anderson backstage before the show.

The designer had taken the image of Spanish woman as his inspiration and designed pieces suitable for “una mujer española real”. “I wanted to move it [the collection] away from the cliché. I didn’t see a rigid evening structure in a Spanish woman. Linen and cotton with leather felt modern, it felt real”, explained Anderson.
The color palette varied throughout the whole collection, although we wouldn’t call the separate pieces colorful. The show started with an array of sleeveless long dresses first in pale yellow, then in black. The unique tailoring of the dresses and blouses was eye-catching. The lines were not too clear-cut; the dresses were neither loose nor figure hugging and were adorned with patches of fabric hanging like petals. All-black dresses were embellished with what appeared to be wide tie-like pieces in pastel tones, long ragged dresses with diagonal cuts up on the front were paired with white sleeveless tops with fringes and tassels, high waisted white pants were worn with knit halter tops, black leather pants with massive belts of the same material were combined with long-sleeved shirts. The fabric used to design skirts had been gathered around the waist to create unique knots on the sides of them.
On the more casual note, we saw bright yellow and red high waisted leather pants paired with pale color tops printed with natural scenes. Continuing his newly introduced trend of adorning pieces with patches of fabric, Anderson presented pale/dark blue and pink loose straight pants with tops matching in color, which were decorated with small cutouts in the same color. Noteworthy was a plain straight black dress patched with pieces of green, pink, pale blue, white and yellow fabric.

The last part of the Loewe spring/summer 2015 collection saw short-sleeved checkered tops and cropped sweaters that were again combined with Anderson’s signature pants for this collection.
The Spanish brand’s iconic leather pieces were not missing either. Particularly interesting was the footwear, which featured black and yellowish leather flat shoes. For handbags and clutches, the British designer had used both leather and suede, creating fabulous pieces that will add stylish edge to any outfit they are paired with.
We believe that with his debut Loewe spring/summer 2015 collection JW Anderson made a big step into the infinite world of fashion. We can only wish him luck and hope he keeps on exciting us with new pieces and designs!

Loewe Berlingo Coin Purse

Categories:Other Brands

Big decisions have been made at the headquarter of Loewe and not only their sites have been changed dramatically (less sophisticated with white background), also the new Fall Winter Collection lifted my eyebrows: ‘Where is Loewe going?’.

Modernized with Loewe’s logo printed all over the bags, by the way, have you spotted the new Loewe Amazona Bag with Anagrams Print yet? The Anagrams print is the new thing; if you love Loewe then you must adore this logo too. Ideal if you want to flaunt from your house to the main street.

But let’s talk about the new Loewe Berlingo Coin Purse first. As you might have noticed, we do not feature a lot ‘Coin Purse’. First I hate coins (they’re heavy and dirty), secondly nowadays everything fits nicely in a big wallet. But there are times that a coin purse can be handy, or you can take it as an extra accessory/fashion piece in your bag.

The Berlingo Coin Purse caught my attention – it’s the shape and colors that got me mesmerized. I love the clean design then finished with the Loewe logo stamp. The style is like a wrap, doesn’t it?

Crafted from smooth calfskin, refined with polished silver hardware, it’s measured 12,5 x 6,5 x 6 cm. The calfskin is priced at $255 USD and blue crocodile leather is $1,090 USD. Available at Loewe boutique or e-store.

This Little Loewe Panda Might be the Cutest Coin Purse Ever

Categories:Other Brands

Loewe-Panda-Coin-Purse

A lot of people have a particular type of animal on which they obsess. For me, it’s bulldogs – I prefer English, but a Frenchie will do in a pinch. I’ll cross the street and chase someone down in order to pet their bulldog, even if there’s oncoming traffic. For our operations director Shannon, it’s pandas. She may not have as many opportunities to pet random pandas on the way to the grocery store, her love for the lovable bears is still strong. She already has a panda case for her iPhone, and I think she should add this Loewe Panda Coin Purse to her collection next.

Adorableness usually isn’t a quality that I seek out in my leather goods and accessories, but when executed correctly, it’s incredibly hard for even me to resist some serious cuteness. Gucci has had a monopoly on animal-themed luxury coin purses (which are maybe even a whole genre unto themselves now) for the recent past, but this Loewe piece is not only seriously cute, but it’s a slightly uncharacteristic bit of humor for a brand that’s generally quite staid and maybe even a bit conservative.

Fashion can always use more humor, more recognition that perhaps not everyone in the industry is as self-serious as we often get the reputation for being, as long as we don’t lose the luxury along the way. This little panda is a perfect example of executing that combination beautifully. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $265.
